Between us
BETWEEN US
The authors of the multimedia project Between us use different media to create: movement, writing, drawing and sound in order to question their position as artists and mothers. Performing a balancing act along the permeable line between the desired and the realized, asking questions without really looking for a clear answer, they speak from the (un)privileged position of cultural workers, and through the prism of motherhood, accepting their situation and the priorities that come with it, using the safe distance offered by the representational frame of art as a screen.
BETWEEN US is asking questions.
BETWEEN US is an attempt at answers.
BETWEEN US is a privilege.
BETWEEN US is an image of motherhood.
BETWEEN US is a dance of love.
BETWEEN US is an encounter between a girl and a mother, a mother and a child.
BETWEEN US is just one text about me.
BETWEEN US is a display of time and priorities.
BETWEEN US is a way to find a break.
BETWEEN US is a name for a screen, behind which hides fear, but stripped of panic.
There is a children’s playground painted on the screen, but there is no noise or laughter. There are birds, as if in flight. A snail with wings, fairies, cakes and various instruments. Our hands play the instruments, our legs dance, our lips sing boisterously and then coyly whisper children’s nursery rhymes. Our heads concoct spontaneous plans, while the day concocts its own, always new and unfathomable. That is a secret.
Let it remain BETWEEN US.
